French Bulldog Temperament and Personality

The French Bulldog is loved by the public for his charm and adaptability. The French Bulldog loves everyone he meets and will rub at the side of any leg.

French bulldogs are known for their attention. When they follow you from room to room, they will not cause any trouble. When they want to attract your attention, they will pat you with their paws.

French Bulldogs are a highly alert breed, and they bark for a reason. If a Frenchie barks, you should go to see what happened immediately.

Frenchies are very stubborn about any training. You should motivate them through gentle and encouraging skills. If you find the right reward, they can learn quickly. Although you may find that they like to use their tricks or commands, especially if they have an audience.

Frenchies prefer destructive play. These dogs love to tear up their toys, perform squeaks, and play with toys that are far away from each other. Do not give them toys that could cause them to choke, such as rawhide, pig ears, and dental chews. They also like to hide things to make people look for them.

Caution! Any dog that is bored, untrained, or unsupervised will engage in obnoxious barking, digging, and other undesirable behaviors. And any dog can be a trial to live with during adolescence. For French Bulldogs, the age of “adolescence” begins at six months and continues until about two years of age.

If you start training your dog from the day you bring home, it will learn everything you teach him in about eight weeks. Do not wait until he is six months old to start training unless you want a more willful dog. Get him into puppy kindergarten and socialized at 10 to 12 weeks of age if possible.

However, most puppy training classes require dogs to be up-to-date on certain vaccines (such as kennel cough), and a large number of veterinarians recommend limiting exposure to other dogs and access to public places until puppy vaccines (including rabies, distemper, and macro viruses) are complete. Until your puppy’s vaccinations are complete, you can house-train your puppy and socialize him among family and friends.
