What Pomeranians Cannot Eat

You know that feeling when you sit down for a meal, either alone or with your family, and you have extra eyes watching your every move, licking their lips, perhaps trying to get on your lap or an empty chair. A Pomeranian begging for any scraps is almost irresistible.

His cute face staring at you with that innocent smile is enough to persuade the novice Pomeranian owner to give in and offer some of what you are holding, cooking, or eating. However, before giving in, you must do your research and ask what foods can Pomeranians eat.

The bad news is that there are lots of human foods that are unhealthy for Pomeranians (and other dog breeds) to consume.

  1. Chocolate. This type of theobromine-rich food is unhealthy for Pomeranians and can lead to reduced blood flow to the brain, which can lead to heart disease and other fatal problems.
  2. Green onions. Foods such as onions and scallions are also inedible to Pomeranian dogs. Because the rich disulfides can cause the red blood cells of Pomeranians to oxidize, which may cause hemolytic anemia.
  3. Non-digestible food. Non-digestible foods such as squid, shrimp, octopus, crab, jellyfish, shiitake mushrooms, and bamboo jacket may cause diarrhea or vomiting in Pomeranian dogs. Peanuts and other beans are hard to chew, which may block the throat.
  4. Chicken and fish bones. Because chicken bones and fish bones are hard and can easily puncture the mouth and digestive organs, they cannot be fed.
  5. Spices. Ginger, curry powder, pepper, wasabi, chili, and other irritating spices are too stimulating to the stomach and burden the liver and kidneys.
  6. Milk. Pomeranians cannot drink milk, because the composition of milk is completely different from that of dog milk. Dog milk contains high protein, high fat, and low lactose, while milk contains low protein, low fat, and high lactose. The composition of the two is just the opposite. The puppies’ intestines and stomachs cannot absorb and digest milk, and they will have gastrointestinal problems such as diarrhea. In such a situation, you can feed yogurt to the Pomeranian. And because vitamin C can be synthesized automatically in the dog’s body, things such as vegetables or fruits have little effect on Pomeranian dogs. They can only supply fiber, and eating too much will cause indigestion instead. If the dog is still young, you can eat special dog milk powder or skimmed milk powder.
